Welcome to the website of Canadian Tech Rights Lab (“CTRL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using our website at takectrl.ca (the “Site”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site.
About CTRL
CTRL is a Canadian not-for-profit initiative focused on technology rights. CTRL is not currently a registered association. The Site is used to publish our own independent research, as well as information obtained through Freedom of Information (“FOI”) and Access to Information (“ATI”) requests.
Use of the Site
You may use the Site for lawful purposes only. You agree not to use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Site or interfere with any other party’s use and enjoyment of the Site.
Information Posted on the Site
While we strive to provide useful information, CTRL does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any information posted on the Site. The content is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. CTRL is not responsible for the content of FOI/ATI received or for any third-party websites linked to from the Site. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience only and do not imply endorsement or responsibility for their content.
Privacy
Currently, CTRL does not collect any personal information from users of the Site. Should this change in the future, a separate Privacy Policy will be provided.
CTRL hosts its content on Github Pages. Github may collect logs and other information about use of the Site in accordance with its Privacy Statement.
Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise specified in these Terms, all content on the Site, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is the property of CTRL or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the content without prior written permission.
The ASCII fonts on the Site are drawn from FIGlet. If you are the creator of a FIGlet font and do not want your font to be used on the site, please contact us and we will remove it.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CTRL and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your access to or use of the Site or the information contained therein.
Changes to Terms
CTRL reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. The Site will indicate when the Terms were last updated.
Governing Law
